Reagan Fall Photos - Downtown Lynchburg, Liberty University

Last week I tricked Reagan into posing for some photos by disguising the photo shoot as an "outdoor adventure." First we ventured downtown and found secret passage ways, waterfalls, trains and cool abandoned buildings. All the while along our adventure I snapped away catching Reagan at times when he wasn't expecting it. Day 2 after picking Reagan up from school at LCA, we took another adventure to the new tennis courts on campus. Reagan searched for left behind tennis balls, while I watched through the camera lens. We also got to see a few trains pass by behind us. And although, we didn't find any lost tennis balls, I did find a few great shots of my favorite little boy. Here are some of my favorite photos from our adventure. Enjoy!

Allie Fall Photos - Downtown Lynchburg, Va. and Old City Cemetery

A couple weeks ago I was contacted by a friend and previous client to take her daughter's fall photos. As someone whose work is completely subjective, it is always refreshing when a client enjoys your work so much they come back to you for more. I had so much fun photographing Allie for her summer photos that I jumped at the chance to photograph her again. At a little over age 1, Allie kept me on my toes, chasing her and varying my angles to get the best photos I could. Although working with young children can be challenging, I absolutely love it. Children allow me to utilize my style of photography to its fullest extent. I actually prefer to catch the action, and adore candid photography. I find if you let a young child just do his or her thing, some of the best expressions and memories are captured. On this fall photo shoot, Allie had several wardrobe changes and we changed venues twice. She even donned her Halloween costume for a bit. Here is a little sampling of some of my favorite photos from the day. Enjoy!

Sarah Portrait Photos - Myrtle Beach, SC

On this dreary, rainy day, I'm reminded of the sun and warm weather as I edit photos from my beach trip in September. On this trip to Myrtle Beach, SC I wrangled my cousin into modeling for some beach photos. I didn't have to twist her arm hard, she was happy to pose for me. I've been going to Myrtle Beach since I was a kid. I love the beach, the sand and the warm weather. Here are some of the photos from the shoot, as well as some photos I took on my last day at the beach before heading home to Lynchburg, Va. Enjoy!

Greene Family Fall Photos - Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest

The Greene family found me through my listing on Craigslist. The family wanted to try a more natural photo shoot at an outdoor location instead of the portrait studio sessions to which they were accustomed. We met at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest Sunday evening and wandered the grounds for interesting backdrops. We had fun marveling at the beauty of Poplar Forest, while taking the time to take a few pictures. The Greene family was wonderful to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed our session. Below are just a few of the photos from the session.

Akom Boys Fall Photos - Maymont Park, Richmond, Va.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe it's been 15 years since I was in college, and when I catch up with old friends and see their families reality sets in, that yes, it has been that long since the college days. My sorority sister, Karen, asked that I take photos of her family and I was happy to oblige. I met Karen and the three Akom boys at Maymont Park in Richmond this past weekend and we had a wonderful photo shoot. The boys kept me on my toes as only boys can do, but I had fun chasing them with my lens to capture the joy they exuded as they ran and played throughout the park. In between snapping photos, Karen and I were able to catch up a little bit and learn how each of our lives have changed since the dorm room days. I love traveling, catching up with old friends, and photographing kids, and this photo shoot gave me all three. Yes, Saturday was a good day.

Johnson Wedding at Cox Farm Barn - Evington, Va.

I originally was asked to photograph only the decor of the wedding by Lynchburg-based wedding design company, Love is in the Air. However, a week before the wedding, the opportunity arose for me to serve as the main photographer for the event. I was happy to help out and have the chance at photographing my first barn wedding.
First of all, the setting for this wedding was beautiful. The barn sat in a open field and the sun set directly in front of the barn doors allowing lots of light to fill the party area perfectly in the early evening hours. Deep fall colors of burgundy, orange and yellow, as well as fall staples such as colored leaves, acorns, mums and hay bales were used throughout the ceremonial area beautifully.
I had a wonderful time working with the bride and groom taking photographs that would truly reflect the atmosphere of their special day.
Below are a sampling of photos from the wedding and reception.
